48 hours in Moscow in 1965

In 1965, very few people had the chance to go to the USSR, but Jean Bruneau did, thanks to a window display competition organised by Plastimonde. At the time, such a trip was not common even in the regional press. During his two days in Moscow, Jean Bruneau made sketches of everything that caught his eye, and on his return he produced 18 gouaches on paper.

These paintings give us a glimpse of what he saw on site in 1965, and are a remarkable testimony to his feelings about life in Moscow during the Cold War.
