Cahiers de l'académie de Bretagne et des pays de Loire

From 1971 to 1992 More than 220 original drawings, produced and presented by the author, illustrate Jean BRUNEAU's 35 years at the Académie de Bretagne. During the 28 years of annual editions, Jean Bruneau would illustrate the chosen theme each time with his sharp, recognisable pencil stroke. He would caption them himself with his latent humour, his often ferocious irony, a pleasant cruelty pushed to a degree that made it disarming. The commentary situates each drawing in a specific universe. The total synthesis of images and words, equally incisive, lends the graphic suite concerned here a complementary appeal. Each book contained eight drawings by Jean Bruneau, which you can find by consulting the first booklet published up to the 1992 edition.
