Typical images of Epinal de  Jean Bruneau

When he was a child, Jean Bruneau used to look at and read the old Epinal pictures, the main means of popularising in colour the events, grandiose or catastrophic, of the previous century. In 1978, to celebrate Jules Verne, he came up with the idea of illustrating the novelist's life in this way. Always aesthetically pleasing, and easy to read, this digest of stories was sure to please the people of Nantes. The tourist office, followed by various companies, then asked Jean Bruneau to promote the most varied themes belonging to the history of Nantes.
