Medals and plaques

Medals : The art of numismatics suits Jean Bruneau, as it combines knowledge, imagination and drawing talent. Each medal had to represent the subject, sometimes with a related symbol, a name or a motto to personalise the object. The city of Nantes, the tourist office and various companies asked Jean Bruneau for the idea and design that would best immortalise, in metal, celebrities, deeds or simply their company, and which would honour the recipients.

Bronze plates : Two plaques were made by Jean Bruneau, the first of which is affixed to the Jacques Cassard stele, a monument he created in 1979 and which stands on the Jean Bruneau esplanade in Nantes. This plaque was stolen in 1991, but as the founder had kept the mould, a new plaque was cast and has now been returned to its place. The Laënnec plaque was commissioned by the Laënnec hospital in Saint Herblain, and is located in the entrance hall, just above the reception desk. By chance or fate, it was in this hospital that Jean Bruneau died in May 2001..
